Best Flooring For Your Home

Several years ago, the flooring methods primarily used in residential houses were not very diverse. People often used hardwood or stone (mosaics) to floor their homes. Today, however, new methods of covering the floor of buildings have become popular. The variety in the material, type, and color of flooring has become so great that the hands of builders, architects, and consumers are left free to choose.

Today, in designing the decoration of homes, flooring is of particular importance. This importance is such that after buying a house or building it, the first step besides painting the walls is installing or replacing the old flooring. In the face of the very high diversity of the flooring market, the question that comes to the buyer’s mind is what is the most suitable flooring for the home?

When choosing and buying home flooring, you should consider taste, budget, ruggedness, fire resistance, appearance, and the type of substructure. In the continuation of this text, we will try to introduce the kinds of building flooring and their features.

Types of Building Flooring

1 – PVC flooring:

This type of flooring, also known as vinyl, is made of flexible plastic and consists of several compressed layers. The variety of designs in PVC flooring is wide. This flooring has a high resistance to impact and pressure tolerance and is also resistant to water and moisture, so it is a good choice for kitchens.

Buying the right flooring when renovating or changing the decoration of a building is a concern for many people. If you purchase your flooring without knowing its quality and only on the design and color, you will surely regret it after a while. Unlike carpets and rugs or other interior decoration accessories, flooring usually does not change for many years. So using newer floor coverings is always more popular.

Various PVC parquet and Engineered Wood flooring are the most modern and newest materials for flooring residential, commercial, office, and other buildings, which have become very popular these days. However, when you consider the cost of buying PVC flooring, it is better to get complete information about this material in advance.

2 – Ceramic flooring:

Ceramic flooring is one of the oldest floorings used in residential, office, and commercial buildings. The variety in the material and appearance of ceramics is very high, and their price is determined based on the quality of the materials used in their construction. Ceramics are produced in two types, glazed and unglazed. The ceramic is covered with a layer of gloss, semi-gloss or matte glaze in the glazed type. The thickness of the ceramics varies between 4 to 12 mm. Ceramic has a rough back surface that is in contact with cement mortar or glue.

Even if you are interested in different designs, such as wood veneer, and can not use them in your home, wood patterned ceramic flooring can be a good alternative. However, the disadvantages of ceramic flooring are its coldness, especially in the cold seasons of the year, and the possibility of breakage and puffiness in case of impact. Also, the seam between the ceramics is a place for accumulating dust and all kinds of impurities. Due to the difficult access, maintaining its cleanliness is not an easy task.

3 – Stone flooring:

Stone flooring can be considered one of the most luxurious types of building flooring. These floors are mainly made of marble, granite, travertine, quartz, and coral stone used both indoors and outdoors.

The price of stone flooring is determined based on quality class, coefficient of friction, amount of water absorption, and design. This type of flooring is mainly used in living rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and bedrooms. The advantages of this material include high strength and durability and its easy maintenance and washing. However, you should also consider the very high price of stone flooring as one of its disadvantages.

4 – Hardwood parquet:

The presence of wood parquet as flooring in the house is considered a warm feeling. These wooden floors are usually made of walnut, cherry, maple, pine, oak and spruce. Therefore, the price of wood parquet directly relates to the cost of the wood used to manufacture it. In addition to the natural beauty they bring to the home environment, wood flooring also has disadvantages such as sensitivity to moisture and water, annoying noise, and various insects’ nesting. You should also consider fire hazards in these situations.

A combination of cement, stone powder and concrete adhesive is usually used to install wood parquet. After installing the parquet, the baseboards of the wall are installed. The baseboards are generally made of wood or MDF.

5 – Laminate flooring:

It can be said that laminate flooring is made to compensate for the problems of the Hardwood parquet. These floors are made of fibers and compressed layers of wood, MDF and HDF. The life of this type of flooring is nearly thirty years. The difference between laminate and parquet is that parquet is made directly from wood, but laminate is made from wood fibers.

Laminates mainly consist of 4 layers, the main layer of which is HDF. The next layer is the decorative layer, which usually has a wooden design. The laminates are locked together during installation, and a layer of foam is placed under them. Installing or replacing laminate flooring is a relatively simple task. Laminates are cheaper than parquet. Complicated cleaning of the laminate is one of the disadvantages of this type of flooring due to the difficulty of moisture penetration under it and its expansion in hot weather.

6 – Concrete flooring:

Flooring Concrete veneers are the most durable flooring used in buildings. These floors are used indoors and outdoors. Concrete floors have a cold surface, and it is recommended to use underfloor heating systems in addition to their use.

7 – Epoxy flooring:

This type of flooring, in addition to its decorative use, also has a hygienic purpose and is composed of a chemical reaction of two different materials called epoxy resin and polyamine. The color variation of these floors is very high, and they are also very transparent. Important advantages of epoxy flooring include very high resistance to abrasion and fire.

This flooring is used in high-traffic settings and especially in medical environments such as hospitals and medical clinics. The mentioned application is due to its uniform surface, easy maintenance, slip resistance and antibacterial properties of epoxy flooring.

8 – Glass flooring:

As their name suggests, this type of flooring has a glass structure. There are misconceptions about glass flooring, some of which say that these floors are not strong enough and are fragile; this is not the case, and if appropriately selected, next to its sturdiness, glass flooring can give the building a good look.

9 – Brick flooring:

The use of brick flooring is mainly used in open spaces, gardens, yards, and roof gardens. Bricks are produced in brown, red, orange, and gray colors. In addition to the color of the bricks, the way they are arranged will significantly impact the appearance of the desired location.

10 – 3D flooring:

3D flooring can be considered a new generation of flooring. 3D flooring is mainly used in bathrooms and toilets. The customer can give the desired design to the seller to print and make the desired flooring.
